CagriSema: The Next Weight-Loss Shot
CagriSema combines semaglutide with an amylin analogue and is under FDA review. Here is what it is, where it stands, and what it means for athletes.
Headlines say a new shot could rival Wegovy, and searches for CagriSema have exploded. Someone in your box already found a site claiming to sell it. That should set off alarms.
Peptides went mainstream in 2026. Weight-loss shots, recovery stacks and longevity compounds now share the same feeds, and the October 2026 HHS decision to let pharmacies compound six peptides made the line between approved and unapproved even blurrier. For athletes who train hard and may get tested, that confusion is risky.
This guide explains CagriSema in plain language: what it is, where it stands with the FDA, what the WADA Prohibited List says, what research can and cannot tell us, and the questions worth bringing to your doctor. It is educational only. We do not give dosing, sourcing or usage advice. The Quick Answer
FDA: Investigational. Under FDA review, decision expected Q4 2026 per Novo Nordisk. WADA: Not named. Cagrilintide has no approval, so it likely falls under S0 until approved. Check with USADA or Global DRO. HHS 2026: Not part of the Oct 2026 HHS action. Talk to your doctor before using any peptide, medicine or supplement, and tested athletes should confirm status on Global DRO first.

What Is CagriSema?
CagriSema is an investigational once-weekly injection from Novo Nordisk that combines two drugs: cagrilintide, a long-acting amylin analogue, and semaglutide, the GLP-1 agonist in Ozempic and Wegovy.
Novo Nordisk filed it with the FDA in December 2025 and has said it expects a decision in the fourth quarter of 2026. As of this writing it is not approved.
Why Everyone Is Talking About CagriSema
Pru 2026 search data shows CagriSema searches surging as trial results and the FDA filing hit the news.
Search interest is not proof of anything. Many trending compounds are promoted by sellers who profit from the hype, and the loudest claims online are rarely the best-supported ones.
What the Research Can and Cannot Say
Phase 3 trials reported substantial average weight loss in adults with obesity, and in the REDEFINE 4 head-to-head trial it did not show non-inferiority to tirzepatide. Reported side effects are mostly gastrointestinal, similar to other GLP-1 based medicines. None of the trials studied athletes.
What CagriSema Means for People Who Train
Until the FDA approves it, any CagriSema sold online is an unapproved product, and tested athletes should assume it is prohibited under S0.
Tested athletes
Check Global DRO and your anti-doping organization. Strict liability means you are responsible for anything in your body.
Recreational athletes
No drug test does not mean no risk. Unapproved products can contain the wrong substance, the wrong amount or contaminants.
Everyone
Training, sleep, food and a good coach still drive results. Bring questions to a doctor, not a comment section.
The Gray-Market Problem
Many peptides are sold online labeled research use only. Those products are not FDA-approved, not checked for identity, purity, dose or sterility, and may not contain what the label says. The October 2026 HHS notice requires compounding pharmacies to certify identity and purity and report side effects for six peptides, but that is temporary enforcement discretion and not FDA approval.
Before you even consider it
- Is it FDA-approved for your situation?
- Is it on the WADA list, or likely captured by S0?
- Has a doctor who knows your history reviewed it?
- Would it come from a licensed pharmacy with a prescription?
- Are you chasing a shortcut that training, sleep or food could cover?
CagriSema FAQ
Is CagriSema FDA-approved?
Not as of this writing. Novo Nordisk filed CagriSema with the FDA in December 2025 and has said it expects a decision in the fourth quarter of 2026. A filing does not guarantee approval. Check FDA or Novo Nordisk announcements for the latest status before believing any claim online.
What is cagrilintide?
Cagrilintide is a long-acting analogue of amylin, a hormone released with insulin that is involved in fullness and blood sugar. In CagriSema it is paired with semaglutide. On its own, cagrilintide is not approved, which matters for both legal access and anti-doping status for tested athletes.
Is CagriSema banned by WADA?
WADA does not name CagriSema, but its S0 category prohibits substances with no current regulatory approval for human use, which likely covers cagrilintide while it is investigational. Semaglutide alone is monitored, not prohibited. Tested athletes should check with their anti-doping organization, especially if approval status changes.
How does CagriSema compare to tirzepatide?
Novo Nordisk compared them directly in its REDEFINE 4 trial, and the company reported CagriSema did not meet non-inferiority against tirzepatide. Comparing numbers from separate trials can mislead. If approved, cost, access and individual response will matter more than headlines.
Can I buy CagriSema online?
Not legitimately. Because it is not approved, there is no legal prescription version in the US. Anything sold online as CagriSema is an unapproved product with unknown contents, dose and sterility. If it is approved, it would come through a prescription from a licensed provider.
Does RBST sell CagriSema?
No. RBST GEAR CO. sells training gear and apparel only. We do not sell medicines, peptides or supplements. This article is educational and explains the regulatory and anti-doping picture so athletes can talk with a qualified medical professional about their own situation.
Where can I check the sport status of CagriSema?
Use Global DRO, run by USADA and partner agencies, to search a substance or medication by name and country. You can also contact your national anti-doping organization directly. Save the answer in writing. The WADA Prohibited List is updated every January, so check CagriSema again each season, even if it was fine last year.
Should I talk to my doctor before using CagriSema?
Yes. A doctor can review your health history, current medications, training load and goals, and explain risks that a website or influencer will not. That conversation matters even more when a product is unapproved, compounded or bought online. Bring this article and its sources so the discussion about CagriSema starts from the facts.
Why is CagriSema trending in 2026?
Peptides have moved from niche forums into mainstream feeds through podcasts, telehealth ads and weight-loss headlines. Search trackers report big jumps for many compounds, including CagriSema. The October 2026 HHS compounding announcement added even more attention. Popularity, however, is not evidence that something is safe, legal or useful for training.
What questions should I ask my doctor about CagriSema?
Ask whether CagriSema is approved for your situation, what the known side effects and interactions are, how it would be monitored, what the evidence actually shows, and whether it affects your sport eligibility. Also ask what proven alternatives exist, such as changes to training, sleep, nutrition or a supervised rehab plan.
How do I spot a risky CagriSema seller?
Red flags include research use only or not for human consumption labels, no prescription required, no licensed pharmacy details, payment only by crypto or apps, before and after miracle claims, and no certificate of analysis from an independent lab. Any of these should stop you. Talk to a licensed medical provider instead.
Does this article give CagriSema dosing advice?
No. This article is educational only and does not give dosing, sourcing or usage instructions. RBST GEAR CO. is a training gear company, not a medical provider. Anything about whether, how or how much to use a medicine or supplement should come from a qualified medical professional who knows your health history.
