Best CrossFit Grips 2025 & 2026 : RBST Iron-X vs. Bear KompleX vs. Victory Grips - RBST GEAR CO.

We didn't set out to beat Bear KompleX.

We set out to solve a problem we kept running into ourselves: grips that felt great on the bar but left chalk dust everywhere, or grips that gripped the chalk more than the rig, or grips that looked like every other pair in the gym.

RBST Gear Co. started as a community athletes competing, coaching, and training together. The Iron-X was built because we wanted something better for ourselves. Turns out, a lot of other athletes did too.

We're not saying Bear KompleX or Victory Grips are bad. They're solid products that have earned their reputation. But we believe the Iron-X does some things better and we want to show you exactly what those are, honestly.

1. Bar feel. Bear KompleX carbon is thick. That's what makes it sticky but it also puts material between you and the bar. The Iron-X uses a thinner rubber profile that gives you more connection to the bar while still sticking when you need it. Athletes who switch from carbon often say it feels more like training bare-handed but with protection.

2. Chalk-free performance. Iron-X works without chalk. Bear KompleX carbon requires it. In a competition heat with chalky rigs and fast transitions, chalk-free is a real advantage. You grab and go.

3. Ready the moment you open the box. Victory Grips leather is excellent — but it takes 4-6 sessions to break in properly. Iron-X is ready immediately. No awkward first few workouts.

What athletes who've made the switch are saying

"Been using these grips for a year now after trying Bear, and two different types of Victory. When I say you are stuck to the rig, I mean you are stuck. Immediately I saw an increase in my ability to hang on the bar and do more reps per set."

— Alexis Kennedy, verified RBST customer

"Best gymnastics grips on the market. I love the Iron-Claw but now I love the Iron-X even more. Very grippy but I can feel the bar more with the thinner profile and the grip is more forgiving if chalk gets on them. 10 out of 10."

— Rob Gill, verified RBST customer

The part that isn't on a spec sheet

When one of our customers' grips ripped in half during a competition finals event, our owner was at the booth. She replaced them on the spot and then shipped the brand-new Iron-X to his door without being asked.

That's not a return policy. That's who we are.

Bear KompleX is a great brand. But they're not standing at the booth at your regional competition. We might be.

Choose Iron-X if: you want chalk-free performance, more bar feel, immediate use out of the box, and a brand that has actually been at your local comp.

Choose Bear KompleX if: you don't mind training with chalk, and you care most about brand recognition at the Games level.

Choose Victory Grips if: you prefer traditional leather, are willing to invest time in break-in, and want a premium leather feel above all else.
